Coldplay set for Simpsons stint

Coldplay will become the latest band to make a guest appearance in animated comedy The Simpsons, their spokesman has confirmed.
The band will reportedly be hired by Homer to play a private concert for him and Bart after he wins the lottery.
"When Bart goes to the bathroom, Coldplay has to stop," executive producer Al Jean told US website Entertainment Weekly.
Coldplay follow in the footsteps of artists including U2 and Sting.
Sir Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, Elton John and The Moody Blues have also made appearances.
The voices of celebrities including comedy actor Seth Rogen and actress Neve Campbell will reportedly also feature in the 21st season of The Simpsons, which will be shown in the US on Fox from 27 September.
Entertainment Weekly said the late singer and actress Eartha Kitt had also recorded audio for an episode for the new season before her death on Christmas Day last year.

Hip directors do kids book adaptations

If Spike Jonze’s upcoming live-action adaptation of much-loved kids book “Where the Wild Things Are” comes even close to its promise, it should be something pretty special.

Early stills from the film look sublime and it would seem that Jonze, who is no slouch in the cool stakes himself, recruited a who’s who of the indie world to work on the project.
Former gangster-in-therapy James Gandolfini of “The Sopranos” fame adds his trademark growl to the voice of Carol, one of the lumbering monsters, alongside Forest Whitaker and a smattering of indie royalty — Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo and Lauren Ambrose.
San Francisco-based Pulitzer-nominated writer Dave Eggers, best-known for his innovative memoir “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius,” worked with Jonze to adapt the script from Maurice Sendak’s beloved childhood tale. It tells the story of a boy sent to bed without his supper who creates an imaginary world inhabited by ferocious monsters who crown him their leader.
The film’s soundtrack comes courtesy of long-time Coen Brothers collaborator Carter Burwell alongside NY art rocker Karen O of band Yeah Yeah Yeahs and features songs by Canadian band Arcade Fire.
The film’s child star, Max Records, looks like he could really steal the show, though. He plays disobedient little Max and with his sulky face framed by the hood of his dirty-white monster suit, he looks looks not unlike a pre-pubescent Edward Furlong.
From the
trailer, it looks like Jonze has made a magical film that captures the other-worldly aspect of childhood. Watch Max running around with the sun glinting through trees to the pound of “Wake Up” by Arcade Fire and just try not feeling nostalgic for a lost time in the past.
He’s not the only one mining our collective nostalgia for kid’s books: “The Royal Tennenbaums” director Wes Anderson has turned his eagle eye from the nuances of dysfunctional family life to an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “The Fantastic Mr Fox.” He is filming it using stop-motion animation, a technique he first experimented with in underwater “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.”
George Clooney is voicing the heroic Mr Fox, who is persecuted by three dimwitted poultry farmers, but prevails in the end. Anderson favorites Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman are voicing too. A trailer hasn’t been released yet, but here are some
images.
Then, of course, there is Tim Burton’s disturbingly psychedelic take on “Alice in Wonderland,” with (who else) Johnny Depp made up to the nines as The Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham-Carter as the homicidal Red Queen. Here are some
images.

A médica Carol Cooper, contatada pelo The Sun, avalia as fotos:

Letterman - Joaquin Phoenix: The Full Interview (February 26, 2009)

Joaquin's completely insane!

This is the best biopicture I have ever seen =) BRAVO MARION COTILLARD =)

Great song...

"You Found Me"
[Verse 1]
I found God
On the corner of First and Amistad
Where the west
Was all but won
All alone
Smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where you been?"
He said, "Ask anything".

[Verse 2]
Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Were spent by the telephone
It never rang
And all I needed was a call
It never came
To the corner of First and Amistad

[Chorus 1]
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

[Verse 3]
In the end
Everyone ends up alone
Losing her
The only one who's ever known
Who I am
Who I'm not, who I wanna be
No way to know
How long she will be next to me

[Chorus 2]
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

[Bridge]
Early morning
The city breaks
I've been callin'
For years and years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
Ya never send me no letters
You got some kinda nerve
Taking all my world

[Chorus 3 and outro]
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Where were you? Where were you?
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me
Why'd you have to wait?
To find me, to find me

I really like this song...

The Man Who Can't Be Moved

Going back to the corner where I first saw you,
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag not I'm not gonna move,
Got some words on cardboard got your picture in my hand,
Saying if you see this girl can you tell her where I am,
Some try to hand me money they don't understand,
I'm not... broke I'm just a broken hearted man,
I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do,
How can I move on when I've been in love with you...

Cos if one day you wake up and find that your missing me,
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,
Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet,
And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

So I'm not moving...
I'm not moving.

Policeman says son you can't stay her,
I said there's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year,
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows,
If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go.

Cos if one day you wake up and find that your missing me,
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,
Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet,
And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.

So I'm not moving...
I'm not moving.

I'm not moving...
I'm not moving.

People talk about the guy
Whos waiting on a girl...
Oohoohwoo
There on no hole in his shoes
But a big hole in his world...
Hmmmm

Maybe I'll get famous as man who can't be moved,
And maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news,
And you'll come running to the corner...
Cos you'll know it's just for you

I'm the man who can't be moved
I'm the man who can't be moved...

Cos if one day you wake up and find that your missing me,
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I can be,
Thinking maybe you'd come back here to the place that we'd meet,
And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street.
[Repeat in backgroung]

So I'm not moving...
I'm not moving.

I'm not moving...
I'm not moving.

Going back to the corner where I first saw you,
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag not I'm not gonna move.

Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton COMING SOON

Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice) attempts to work his gothic magic over one of the best loved stories of all time... Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There', which first told the story of a young girl, who after following a rabbit down a hole, is transported to a strange world. Whilst the disney version of the tale relied on sweetness and light to delight the audience, Burton fans can be sure to look out for the same cartoon traits as earlier masterpiece 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'.

David Isn't the Only One With Moves in the Beckham Family

David Beckham hit The Grove with his three sons yesterday afternoon, but he also made time to fit in a little soccer practice with Romeo and some of his Galaxy teammates. While David kicked the ball around with the older guys, Romeo worked on his skills to the side. Cruz and Brooklyn are often around to take the field with their brother, but this time David had some one-on-one time with his middle child.

LeAnn Rimes and Husband Are Separated

Four months after reports surfaced that LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian were allegedly having an affair, a source tells PEOPLE that the country singer is no longer living with her husband, Dean Sheremet. "Le and Dean have been separated for quite some time now, but they're continuing to try and work through their relationship, a Rimes pal says. The couple married in 2002, when she was only 19. Last August (six months before their seventh anniversary), they threw a "Seven-Year Itch" party to, as Rimes put it, "remember how blessed we are." News of their separation comes days after Cibrian's wife, Brandi Glanville, said she and the actor were splitting. "Eddie is a devoted and loving father first and foremost and the speed bump he and Brandi are experiencing needs to be worked out privately for everyone's benefit," his manager said in a statement. Cibrian, 36, who is joining the cast of C.S.I. Miami this fall, has denied he was having an affair with Rimes, his costar in the Lifetime original movie Northern Lights, which they filmed last fall. In March, the Rimes pal confirmed the singer and Sheremet were having problems in their marriage, but maintained Cibrian was "not the cause," adding, "There have been issues brewing for months prior to meeting Eddie on set." The couple's Nashville home is currently on the market for $7.45 million.

Japanese fishermen brace for giant jellyfish

Giant jellyfish descend on the Sea of Japan, causing untold devastation to coastal villages and leaving a trail of destruction and human misery behind.Sounds like a great sci-fi flick. But it's not.
It's real and a nightmare for Japanese fishermen.
The massive sea creatures, called Nomura's jellyfish, can grow 6 feet (1.83 meters) in diameter and weigh more than 450 pounds (204 kilos). Scientists think they originate in the
Yellow Sea and in Chinese waters. For the third year since 2005, ocean currents are transporting them into the Sea of Japan.
Monty Williams, a marine biologist at Alabama's Dauphin Island Sea Lab, said the jellyfish grow to an enormous size as they are transported by ocean currents. He said they stay together in packs and as they drift northward, they get caught in fishermen's nets.
The giant jellyfish are one of about 200 species of coastal jellyfish or large jellyfish that exist around the world. But Nomura's stands out because of its enormous size.
"The sheer size of them, individually, makes them fairly spectacular," Williams said. Spectacular, perhaps, to scientists, but perilous to villagers along the Japanese coast who have seen the destructive habits of these colossal creatures in the past. They had giant-jellyfish invasions in 2005 and 2007, and because they've recently been spotted in the Sea of Japan, they're bracing for another, potentially harmful wave this summer.
The jellyfish destroy fishermen's nets, getting trapped in them, tearing holes and ruining catches.
Fishermen often use expensive mazelike nets that stretch for hundreds of kilometers. When swarms of giant jellyfish tear them, the result is devastating.
"Communities of fishermen and these fishing villages own these nets," Williams said. "When these nets get wiped out, it actually has this economic devastation for an entire community."
The good news is that previous attacks have prompted
Japan to put in place a warning system for fishermen. While they still risk losing a big catch, they can, at least, save their pricey nets from the invasion of the giant jellyfish.
It's not clear why waves of Nomura's jellyfish have made it to the Sea of Japan in recent years. Some have speculated that overfishing, pollution or rising ocean temperatures may have depleted the kinds of fish that prey on Nomura's jellyfish in the polyp stage. However, no one is certain, Williams said.

Potter actor sentenced over drugs

A Harry Potter actor has been told to carry out community service after he admitted growing cannabis plants in his mother's north-west London home.

Jamie Waylett, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe in the film series, pleaded guilty to growing 10 cannabis plants in tents at the Kilburn house.
Waylett, 20, was ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work by Westminster Magistrates' Court.
He was arrested after police found pictures of the plants on his camera.
Police seized the camera after he was arrested for taking a picture of officers as he and his friend John Innis, 20, drove past, the court was told.
When police searched Mr Waylett's mother's home they found the 10 cannabis plants.
Waylett, from Kilburn, played a sidekick of villain Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Hear the World exhibition

Rock star Bryan Adams is bringing his Hear the World photography exhibition to London's Saatchi Gallery. The series aims to raise awareness of the importance of healthy hearing and the impact of hearing loss.

The exhibition features a host of celebrities, including model Elle MacPherson, who are supporting the campaign. Hear The World says 1 in 10 people in the industrialised world is hard of hearing.
Stars,
including singer Michael Buble, all posed for Adams with a hand cupped behind their ear to convey conscious hearing.
The exhibition, which also features portraits of Lord Attenborough, Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse, has previously visited New York, Berlin and Zurich
Photographs of stars like Jude Law are available for purchase with the proceeds going to the Hear the World Foundation. The organisation aims to educate people about dangerous sound levels and offers support and solutions to those with hearing loss.
Singer Annie Lennox has been an ambassador for the initiative since last year. The exhibition will be open to the public from 22 - 26 July. Visitors will be able to screen their hearing at free testing stations.

The Reverse of the Medal.

In pictures: Gaza six months on /Gazans face, six months after Israel's military operation

The International Committee of the Red Cross has taken these photos to show the hardships Gazans face, six months after Israel's military operation. Khalil cannot rebuild his home because the blockade of the strip means few building materials get in.
Many children in Gaza suffer from anaemia, mainly due to iron deficiency. This child, Yehia Alhassani, is 14 months old. His mother's breast milk has dried up and the family cannot afford to buy proper baby formula milk.

Meriam tries to give her children nutritious food, but can hardly afford it. Half of Gaza's population rely on the UN for their staple foods. Many families have had to sell their personal belongings, such as jewellery, to keep going.

Rajeh is an unemployed Palestinian living in southern Gaza. He is collecting fire wood for his wife to use in the house. He cannot afford to buy cooking gas even if it is available on the market.

Fetching clean water is often a child's job. The war damaged Gaza's already fragile water and sewage networks. Israel says its military action was intended to stop militants in Gaza firing rockets at Israel.

What do you think about this?
